IRS Collection Notice Help

Got a scary letter from the IRS? Don't panic — but don't ignore it either. Some notices have critical 30-day deadlines.

Critical: The 30-Day CDP Window
Miss this deadline and you lose your rights

When you receive a Final Notice of Intent to Levy (LT11, Letter 1058) or Notice of Federal Tax Lien (Letter 3172), you have exactly 30 calendar days to request a Collection Due Process (CDP) hearing.

What CDP Does:

  • Freezes levy action immediately (IRC § 6330(e))
  • Gets you a hearing with an independent Appeals Officer
  • Preserves your right to go to Tax Court if you disagree

If you miss the 30-day window, the IRS can levy your wages and bank accounts immediately.

Our team can respond within your deadline. Don't wait — the 30-day clock is ticking.

Why You Keep Getting Notices

If you're on a payment plan but still receiving collection notices, here's why:

  • Payment Plan Only Covers One Year

Your IA may only cover 2020, but you owe for 2021-2023 too. Each year generates separate notices.

  • New Assessments Added

A new year was filed or an audit added balance. New debt = new collection cycle.

  • IA Defaulted

Missed payment or unfiled return terminated your agreement. Collection restarts.

  • IRS Systems Lag

Sometimes notices cross in the mail with payments. Check your transcript to verify.
